We spent a night in New Hampshire where we drove through the White Mountains and hiked on the short but dramatic Thompson Falls Trail. The next morning, after a lot of searching, we found a painting spot at Deweys Pond—a calm, glassy stretch of water near Woodstock, Vermont. We snuck in a painting here before lunch.
I was in Woodstock a few years ago and happened upon a local outfitter. One thing led to another, and before long, I was on a solo paddle down the White River. It was part adrenaline rush and part meditation, with a few “what was I thinking?” moments thrown in.
This visit was much more quiet.
